AMVETS Post 44: A Busy and Successful Summer of Service

Since the beginning of June, AMVETS Post 44 has experienced an incredibly busy and rewarding season filled with community outreach, fellowship, and service. Throughout June and July, our members have worked tirelessly to support veterans, military families, and our local community through a variety of meaningful events and activities. Every gathering has reflected our commitment to honoring those who have served while strengthening the bonds that unite our community.

Highlights of our summer was the tremendous success of our 3rd Annual AMVETS Post 44 Fish Fry. The event welcomed a wonderful turnout from veterans, families, friends, and community supporters, creating an atmosphere of fellowship and appreciation. Thanks to the hard work of our dedicated volunteers and the enthusiastic participation of our guests, the Fish Fry was one of our most successful events to date.

The Back-2-School Initiative, sponsored by our own LaKisha Clarke, Founding Director & CEO, Kids Sew Genius Foundation, Inc. and wife of AMVET L. Clarke.

In Mrs. Clarke’s own words,

“Thank you so much for your support during our Back 2 School initiatives.  We appreciate the donation and the volunteers.  The AmVets (Roy Montgomery, Al Wright, Evans Dowdy, Dylester Scott, and Lonney Clarke were a pleasure to work with.  Thanks to your help, we were able to usher resources to those that needed it most.  Students and parents received new clothing from our Career Closet.  We distributed 1,200 pairs of Bombas socks, 720 pairs of panties, 240 bras, 92 dresses, 44 pairs of women jeans/pants, 38 wool coats, 32 trench coats, 14 collared shirts, 52 men shorts, 58 men slacks/pants, 88 belts, and 80 furry stuffed teddy bears as prizes.
The students looked so confident as the volunteers helped them find their appropriate sizes.  Some even posed for pictures and asked for advice on how to style the items.  The parents and congregation received items also.  Everyone was welcomed”.

Thank you Mrs. Clarke for your acknowledgment: AMVETS Post 44 remains committed to creating opportunities that bring people together while continuing to advocate for and serve our nation’s veterans and communities. We are proud of everything we have accomplished over the past two months and look forward to building on this momentum with even more exciting events in the months to come. Thank you for standing with AMVETS Post 44 as we continue to serve those who have so faithfully served our country.
